Semper Excelsius Scholarship

The Corner Canyon PTSA created the Semper Excelsius Scholarship to recognize and reward a Corner Canyon graduating senior who has exemplified our school's motto, Semper Excelsius, during his or her time at CCHS.

Applications are accepted between February 1 and March 1 each year. Students may get paper applications from the Student Center, or they may download one from the PTSA website. 

This scholarship is available to Corner Canyon seniors who have applied using the application form below. Eligibility and requirements are listed in the rules to the right.

RULES

Purpose
  • The purpose of this scholarship is to assist in the post-secondary education of a student who has successfully completed high school through a combination of dedication, strength in character, and remarkable work ethic despite any personal challenges. 
Award
  • Scholarship Award is in the amount of $500.00. This is a one-time, non-renewable grant sponsored by the Corner Canyon High School PTSA. 
Deadline
  • Applications must be submitted no later than March 1 of the current year. 
Application Requirements
  • Complete Scholarship Application that includes answers to all questions must be submitted on or before the deadline.
  • Current copy of high school transcript, dated within one month of application submission, must be submitted on or before the deadline. An official transcript is not required.
  • Letter of Recommendation must be submitted on or before the deadline. Letter of Recommendation must be written by an educator, counselor, administrator, coach, or staff member who directly guided or assisted the applicant at any educational institution he or she attended during his or her high school years.
  • Copy of current schedule must be submitted on or before the deadline. Applicant must also provide a written schedule showing his or her outside-of-school commitments.
  • Incomplete or late submissions will be disqualified. 
Eligibility 
  • Recipient must currently be in their senior year at CCHS.
  • Recipient must have attended CCHS for two full years as of graduation date.
  • Recipient shall be a member of the CCHS PTSA for the current school year. Applicants shall obtain membership upon submitting their applications, at the latest. 
  • Recipient has the desire and potential to attend post-secondary school.
  • Recipient has not received a full scholarship.
  • Recipient demonstrates Semper Excelsius in his or her life. This may be academically, physically, emotionally, mentally, or otherwise. 
Usage
  • Scholarship is to be used for the purpose of tuition, mandatory fees, room/board, and/or books at any valid post-secondary school.
  • Recipient must be enrolled in a post-secondary school for the next academic year by September 1 of the year in which he or she wins this scholarship unless a deferment has been granted. Scholarship is available per the deferment rules at the selected institution.
  • It is the recipient’s responsibility to notify the PTSA when he or she has enrolled in a post-secondary school. The PTSA will distribute the funds to the student’s account at that school only after this notification.
  • Award is paid directly into the recipient’s account at a qualified institution.
  • Award recipient is responsible for transferring the scholarship if he/she changes schools after PTSA has issued the award. 
  • Recipient is responsible for ensuring that the award is used within three years of the award date. In the case that the award is not used within three years from the award date, the award will be returned to CCHS PTSA.
